ONE who thinks this way believes that we are joint heirs with Jesus Christ, He is our elder brother Ro. 8:17 (1) and we are charged with “…finishing the works of him who sent me.” Jn. 4:34 (2)

This mindset expects to “walk in the miraculous, perform the supernatural and fulfill the mandate that “…greater works will you do…” Jn. 14:22, Is. 61: 1-3 (3)

This mindset expects to bring heaven down on earth “… thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven…” Matt. 6:9 (4) and although we do sin we are not sinners in the sense that 2Co.5:17 declares that “we are a new creation in Christ Jesus. Old things have passed away and behold all things become new.” (5) Now by the blood of the Lamb I have been made the righteousness of God, Now we walk in righteousness consciousness vs sin consciousness…2Co.5:21 (6)

This mindset expects to be used by God in the earth even as our elder brother Jesus was and the mystery of the ages, Christ in you the hope of glory will be made manifest for the world to see in the saints. 1Jn. 3:8, Co. 1:27 (7)

This mindset understands that we start out as children of God Jn. 1:12 (8) when we are born again and that we are to grow up into maturity into the head, Jesus Christ, as sons of God (no longer children). Ro 8:14 (9) and it’s the sons who do the work of the Father. Ga. 4:17 (10)

This mindset looks forward to the fullness of Christ being formed in us. Ga. 4:19 (11)
Finally, this mindset shares in the love and communion of the Father and the Son and out of that flows their heart and mind! Jn. 17:21 (12)

Bible Verse Lookup Tool

From our friends at Victory Ministries:

“I’ve done a lot of reading over the past two years — effectively being mentored by the likes of Blackaby, his two sons, Brennan Manning, John Eldredge and many others. Some really amazing teaching is available on the topic of “hearing God’s voice”. Many of the authors teach and site real-life examples that help me understand how God speaks to us contemporarily (or here in 2012).

One of the more intricate experiences that I’ve had lends itself to deepening my understanding of the verse that talks about God knowing every hair on my head. I’m learning that that statement may just be a very large understatement. He knows us way better than that. Some may write this off to coincidence, which is fine, but after 2 years of consistent occurrences, I’m finding this hard to discount.

It seems to me, and I want to emphasize that this seems unique to ‘a’ way that God speaks to me, but whenever I have a spritually significant event, be it a conversation, or unique opportunity to love on someone, God then draws my attention to a digital clock and the digits are lined up (ie. 4:04, or 4:44, or 7:07, or 9:09). It happened today, my young son sent me a txt message asking if we could be a safe-harbor for one of his friends tonight, by the time I got the txt and responded is was 2:02, he sent me the txt at 12:12. Weird? Well, yes… unless it’s been consistent for 2+ years.

God woke me up 3 times one night: 12:12, 1:01, 2:02. About 3 months later, He woke me up 3 days in a row at 4:44am.  I knew this one referred to a Bible verse, don’t ask me how I knew that. So the big question was which section of the Bible? There were probably a lot of 4:44 or 44:4 chapter:verse combinations in the Bible, how would I find them all, let alone figure out which one the Lord was leading me to?

Of course, we don’t want to fall into the trap of ‘numerology’ but with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and His inspiration I believe that God does indeed speak to us via ‘coincidence’ and reoccurring themes where He draws our attention to the time at just the right instant.

With all that said, we’ve built a tool that will allow you to quickly figure out what the viable options are for a particular time of day number sequence. This will help you quickly figure out what the options are, then it’s up to you and the Holy Spirit to discern what He’s actually trying to tell you and which one resonates.”

And that’s why we came up with the Bible Verse Lookup Tool.

As I was pondering, why am I here, what is my purpose in life, why did God create me? The closest thing I could come up with is that I am here (in existence, on earth, in this time period) for HIS (God’s) pleasure. Somehow the God of all the universe takes pleasure in me, HE delights in me. Maybe it’s as simple as a grandfather delighting in his grandchild. Having two grandchildren that IS something to which I can speak. My grandchildren don’t have to DO much for me to delight in them. And for some reason it doesn’t even matter their age! My 4 year old and my 14 year old are equally incredible to me.

To know God and to be known by God, to delight in each other, to love to be together, to walk as it were “in the cool of the day” as it was with Adam and Eve, this I think is the MAIN THING. So what about going to work, raising your family, going to church, serving in the community, paying your bills, surviving!, watching the Ducks football game, doing the grocery shopping, having people over for dinner, sharing your faith, helping to change the world… All good things, who is going to argue that (except maybe a Beaver!)? But where did I let go of the MAIN THING?

Did I ever really know what it was? Did I ever really come to a conclusion on it? Is it important that I do decide? I would say yes, yes and yes. It is important because know that I know, now that I’ve decided for me what the MAIN THING is, it is becoming easier and easier to “get back” to the MAIN THING as I live my life and get lost in the living in this world. It been said that although I’m in this world my citizenship is from on high. And how critical is it that I keep intimacy with my sovereign King while I am on this earthly trek. Herein lies the secret to “running the race”. I make sure daily that the MAIN THING is the MAIN THING and that gives me my spiritual food to endures these momentary light afflictions that are working for us a much greater weight of glory. That I might love HIM and be loved by HIM and that I might now love my neighbor with HIS kind of love and so walk in this life what Jesus felt was important.

For you see, soon the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ shall raise and we who are alive shall be caught up in the air with HIM and forever more we shall be! And then what? I would suggest that WE will simply continue to keep the MAIN THING the MAIN THING!!!

Awakening In Portland

Seven weeks in prayer for Portland

Could thousands of Portlanders wake up to find God alive and at work right beside them? Could our city, which was renamed by ABC News as “Pornland, USA”, be transformed by the gospel of Jesus? Could it be that the God of the miraculous is on the move, here in Portland? Seven is a group of local churches that will be gathering, together as one family, to pray and fast for an awakening in our city. It all starts September 21st.

What an exciting time we are living in. We are excited to locks arms with these churches and stand behind them in support of their effort. What if God hears our prayers? What if Jesus Christ is Lord over all? What if God acts on our behalf when we put Him first, fast and pray?

Check out Seven for all the details.

1Cor. 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. (KJV)

In verse 8, princes refers to Satan & all his hosts. They didn’t even know that Jesus was the Christ or Messiah. After all He did (JC) they still didn’t know. I guess God knows how to keep a secret. Only God is all knowing, omni-present, and all powerful, etc… Satan is a created entity. Therefore, like Jesus when He walked the earth, Jesus could only be at one place at a time. That is why HE needed to go to the Father so He could send the Holy Spirit so JC could be with us through the power of the Holy Spirit!

Here are some other places that demonstrate that Satan cannot read minds or for that manner even understand what the believer or disciple of Christ understands:
Matt. 2 Herod was used by Satan to try to destroy the soon coming King, Jesus but they (Herod & Satan) couldn’t even find Him!!!
Matt. 4- Jesus in the temptation by Satan- Satan is asking JC questions (i.e. are you the Son of God, if you are turn the rocks into bread.).
It is said that Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies to demonstrate that HE is and was Messiah—Apparently Satan is not a good Bible student! Again, 1Cor. 2:8 if they had known whom they had crucified, they never would have crucified the Lord of glory!
Satan cannot understand the things of the Spirit- Ro. 8:26-27
Throughout history God was able to not let Satan know what was going on. For example: Jezebel couldn’t find Elijah, God hid him in the cave. There are many others, Moses in the baby basket…etc…

Finally, CAN SATAN READ OUR MINDS? NO!!! He may be brilliant and he does have a communication network probably yet like many people I’ve known who seem brilliant they often lack simple common sense sometimes. There are many holes in Satan’ abilities.
Not only do we have all power over Satan and his hosts, we have the mind of Christ. We have the authority to rule and reign with HIM (Jesus) over all powers and principalities. And even creation is waiting, groaning of the sons of God to be revealed. Those sons who bring justice to the earth by destroying the works of the evil one. This privilege have all the saints!!!! Ps. 149

Are You Confident Of God’s Love For You?

Excuse Me!!! Why do we do wrong things in this world? Especially when we really would rather do the right things. Ultimately I believe it comes down to what we believe. Do we believe there is a heavenly Father that loves us so much that He would move mountains for me, His beloved? Do we believe in a God that has the ability to heal or save or deliver but wonder if He would do it to me? I seem to have a certain confidence that He would “help” Monique but really in my heart of hearts I am not convinced that He would do it for me. Why do I think and/or believe that way?

I’m convinced it has something to do with not really believing in His great love for me. Besides memorizing the children’s song “Jesus loves me this I know…” when you were young, what sermon or bible study has brought you face to face with His great love for you? Can you even quote me one scripture on His love for you? And not John 3:16 which talks about how God loves the world. I’m looking for how God loves you, His precious child.

What is the Father’s Business?

Matt. 4:23 says, “Now Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.” 1 John 3:8b states “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

From this scripture and others we can see that the will of the Father is to teach and preach the gospel of the kingdom, heal all kinds of sickness and disease and destroy the works of the devil. This mandate, or work or business o f the Father is why the sons of God need to inherit the promises of God. The inheritance is what gives us the power and ability to do the Father’s business. See Isaiah 61:1-3

Gal. 4:1-7, Ro. 8:14-19
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”

The sons of God inherit the promises and are doing the “will of him that sent me”. Children don’t do the Father’s business. They have stewards or guardians. Though children in the legal manner are “masters”, they are not able to exercise their “office” because they have need of maturity. They need to really understand who they are, who their Father is, who their elder brother is and as a family together what their mission is “whilest it’s yet day”.

When we speak of going on to maturity, we mean going on to, through and with the “elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” Heb. 6:1-2 Going on to perfection then means going on to maturity. One of the main elements of maturity is doing the Father’s business.

My Father Loves Me

Jer 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

IS.49:13 Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people, And will have mercy on His afflicted.

IS 62:5 For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you.

JER 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Enough is Enough

When does the work of the evil one become intolerable? When is enough, enough?  When are we going to say, “I’ve had it.  That’s it.  No more!”  How long am I going to go along with “things”?  And by things, I mean a lot of things: not feeling well today, not enough money to pay rent, children being harassed and tempted, depression creeping in…

How bad does it have to get? Not that bad, kind of bad, real bad. What does it take for me to rise up in the authority my elder brother and Father have bestowed on me to give direction to the powers and principalities and direct, command and declare that Satan and his minions get his hands off me and my family, mission, purpose and church and again establish righteousness in my house and life. What does it take? How long will I put up with it? Doesn’t Ro. 8:19 declare that all creation is waiting, groaning for the revealing of the sons of God to arise and establish righteousness, right order, to establish justice? When will we grow tired of injustice? It’s all around us. Our loved ones are sinking in the pool of injustice, of things happening to them that is just not RIGHT!
