As we start, let’s remind ourselves about the enemies of faith. What are they? Certainly, fear, doubt and unbelief would top the list. But today I want to talk about the enemies of “activating” our faith. We get the word activate from the word active which means
“1 : characterized by action rather than by contemplation or speculation
2 : producing or involving action or movement”. So when we are using this word activate we are talking about actions that cause Heaven to be manifested in the earth. Here we get into a covenantal characteristic of Sonship. In Christ we are born into the kingdom of God and His dear son. According to Romans 8 we are adopted into it, where we can now cry “Abba, father”. Therefore, we have God as our Father, and Jesus as our “elder” brother. According to the Word of God, He has made us to be fully Sons of God, inheritors of His promises and kingdom.
You see the foundation of “activating” is authority. God gives authority to sons. He has governors over His children. Sons are those who grow up, go through growing pains, and begin to operate in “the Father’s business”. This is where and when you need authority. Apart from the Father’s business, you don’t need it because you are not in the place where you need to activate the authority and the power to change earth. If you are not about the Father’s business you don’t need power to bring heaven unto earth. Why do we need authority? Because when something is declared with a foundation of authority, power is released. And when power is released, things change. Also, in order to have authority, we must be under authority. All authority is God given. All authority is delegated.
Our Father wants His kingdom to come, His will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
Now that we’ve kind of set the need and context for activating our faith, what might be some of the enemies of activating.
When we use the phrase “activating our faith”, we are suggesting that faith is now ready to be released. Are we in agreement that we don’t have faith for everything, all the time? Now this is extra AND it’s for free but we haven’t all arrived yet. We all haven’t yet come into the “unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”. Eph.4:13 How many of you know I am still growing in some areas of faith in my life? From glory to glory!
And yet still in some areas I have faith and I’m releasing my faith. Isn’t it wonderful to see faith go out and do what it’s destined to do? Bottom line. While we are still on this earth, chances are good we will continue to grow in faith. That was for free!
But where we do have faith, what enemies are there that would try to keep faith from being activated or released? 1) Matt.11:12 Not being “violent”-single eyed. 2) 2 Cor. 6:2 Now is the day of salvation- Not knowing or sensing the urgency of God’s timing– Now, refers to God’s timing in a matter –This area is related to having the kind of hatred and disdain for sin that the Father has. 3) Lack of Obedience- Homeostatis- walking in the balance of God– As we walk with God in our lives, we are obeying Him in all areas, not choosing which areas we want to obey Him and which we don’t.
